Nacsport · Strategy Brief

Hey Nacsport team,

Matt here, EMGI. Thanks for the reply, Alberto. I’m sending this page instead of a Loom so you’ve got something easy to scroll and share internally. In the email I mentioned a B2B SaaS client of ours, HR Partner, where we grew organic value from around $5,000 to $20,000 a month over 25 months and outranked both category incumbents on multiple commercial queries. The reason I led with that is the pattern transfers cleanly to Nacsport. You’re in a category with a clear head term, a dominant incumbent (Catapult) holding the AI citation, and a long tail of sport-specific buyers nobody is properly serving. That’s the exact shape of problem off-page authority work is built for.

The picture I want to walk through: where Nacsport sits across ‘sports video analysis’ and the sport-specific tail, what the AI Overview actually surfaces for buyers (you’re mentioned, but you’re not the cited link, and that gap matters), and where the citation opportunity sits across football, basketball, rugby and the rest of your coverage.

This isn’t a pitch deck. This page is the deliverable. Pause anywhere, take what’s useful, share it with the team. We’re an off-page authority agency working with SaaS, and the work is shaped around how AI citation engines, Reddit and category listicles redistribute buyer demand right now, not classic SEO in isolation. If you like what you see, we can explore working together. If not, a quick “no thanks” is completely fine.

Where Nacsport sits on the surface

Looking at the data: 161 keywords ranked in the US, around 414 monthly organic visits estimated, paid-traffic equivalent near $1,275 a month. 48 keywords in the top 10 and 57 in striking distance (positions 11-30), which is a genuinely healthy base, better than most SaaS I look at. You already rank well for ‘analyse football’ (positions 14-17) and you’re on the board for ‘sports analyst’ (4,400/mo) and ‘game film software’. The foundation is there.

Here’s the gap that matters most. On the head term ‘sports video analysis’, Google now shows an AI Overview at the very top, and inside it Nacsport gets a text mention (“Hudl, and Nacsport are industry standards”) but the clickable, cited links go to Catapult, Dartfish and Once Sport. Being named is good. Being the cited link is what drives the click and the AI recommendation. Catapult owns that position because they have the editorial and brand-mention footprint behind them, not because their product is better than yours. That’s a winnable fight, and it’s exactly the kind of citation gap we close.

Backed by our original research

44% of Google’s top SaaS brands are invisible to ChatGPT

Our 2026 SaaS AI Citation Gap Report studied 150 SaaS companies and found brand mentions correlate with AI citations at 0.664, versus 0.218 for backlinks alone. For Nacsport specifically: a club analyst, head coach or performance director asking ChatGPT ‘best sports video analysis software’, ‘best football video analysis tool’, ‘Catapult alternative for clubs’ should get Nacsport in the cited shortlist. Right now Catapult, Hudl and Dartfish dominate that citation share because of years of editorial mentions and listicle placements, not product superiority. The strong signal here is that you’re already mentioned in the AI Overview, which means the models already associate Nacsport with the category. The work is converting that text mention into a cited link, and that’s driven by the brand-mention footprint AI models read as authority.

How Nacsport is actually being used

Six ways Nacsport actually gets used across the sports it covers, each pulling a different buyer. I’ve read these off your positioning and the entry / professional / advanced tier structure, so correct me where I’ve got it wrong.

Football / Soccer Analysis
Tactical breakdown for clubs at any level
Tag matches, build playlists, analyse formations and opponent tendencies. Your biggest single vertical and where ‘analyse football’ already ranks you well.
Trigger
“Our analyst spends 8 hours tagging one match by hand”
Multi-Sport Coverage
One tool across the whole club
Football, American football, basketball, ice hockey, rugby, volleyball, water polo, esports. The breadth wedge against single-sport tools.
Trigger
“We run six sports and we’re paying for a different analysis tool for each”
Export AI + Automated Tagging
Cut tagging time, not analysis depth
Export AI and automated tagging features that reduce the manual workload analysts hate. The efficiency angle that justifies the higher tiers.
Trigger
“We can’t afford a full-time analyst but we still need the analysis”
Grassroots + Academy Level
Pro-grade analysis at academy budgets
Entry-tier pricing that brings professional analysis to academies, youth setups and semi-pro clubs. The volume buyer Catapult ignores.
Trigger
“Catapult quoted us a number that would eat our entire season budget”
Professional + Elite Clubs
Deep analysis for performance staff
Advanced tier for professional clubs needing full performance-analysis workflows. Where you compete with Catapult and Hudl head-on.
Trigger
“We need frame-by-frame and custom KPIs, not a basic tagging app”
Individual Analyst / Freelance
Portable analysis for consultants
Freelance and individual analysts using Nacsport across multiple client clubs. The ‘sports analyst’ buyer you already rank for.
Trigger
“I consult for four clubs and need one tool I can take everywhere”

Each pulls a different buyer in. Football to the club analyst. Multi-Sport to the performance director. Export AI to the time-poor coach. Grassroots to the academy. Professional to elite performance staff. Individual to the freelance analyst. The multi-sport breadth plus accessible pricing is your citation moat, because Catapult is positioned as elite-American-football-first and leaves the multi-sport, multi-level field wide open.

The actual buyer queries

Here are the head buyer queries with where Nacsport sits today, pulled live from DataForSEO. Sports-analysis buyers Google and ChatGPT a tight set of head terms, then move to YouTube, club forums, Reddit and coaching communities for peer signal. The ‘sports video analysis’ head term and the sport-specific tail (football, basketball, rugby) is where the citation surface is being decided right now, and it’s contestable.

How they actually find Nacsport

Five buyers, four stages. Sports-analysis buying cycles are slower and more considered than SaaS (free trial then a season-budget decision) but heavily community and peer-influenced. The compounding logic is owning the citation surface that decides which 3-5 tools a club shortlists before they ever book a demo.

1
Trigger
Trigger: Manual tagging overload or a budget review
  • Analyst is spending hours hand-tagging every match.
  • Club reviews its analysis tooling at season end.
  • Coach wants opponent analysis the current setup can’t do.
  • Searches ‘sports video analysis software’, ‘football video analysis’, ‘Catapult alternative’.
2
Search & AI
Search & AI: AI Overview + YouTube + forums + ChatGPT
  • Buyer reads the AI Overview, checks YouTube demos, coaching forums and Reddit.
  • Asks ChatGPT for a shortlist of analysis tools.
  • Citation moat sits with Catapult, Hudl and Dartfish right now.
  • Nacsport is mentioned but not cited, so it slips off the shortlist despite being a strong fit. Closing that gap is the single highest-leverage move.
3
Shortlist
Shortlist: Six shortlist questions
  • Does it cover our sport properly? How much manual tagging vs Export AI? Price against our season budget? Learning curve for non-specialist staff? Can we share clips with players? Reference clubs at our level?
4
Demo + Close
Demo + Close: Free trial then entry / professional / advanced
  • Club takes the free trial, tags a real match, sees the time saved.
  • Academy or grassroots lands on the entry tier from €135.
  • Professional and elite clubs move to advanced (up to €2,050) as analysis depth proves out.

Scope Professional tier, portable across clients
€4,800 / year
MessageFreelance analyst needing one tool across four client clubs. Found Nacsport via LinkedIn analyst-community content plus a ‘sports analyst’ search where Nacsport already ranks.
Combined hypothetical ARR across these four: ~€31K Y1. Nacsport economics are stronger per account than typical SaaS because the advanced tier and multi-sport, multi-seat deals carry real value, and clubs renew on season cycles. The flywheel runs on peer referral, club-to-club word-of-mouth and the citation surface that gets you onto the shortlist in the first place. Every club that switches from Catapult on budget becomes a reference and a Reddit or forum recommendation source.

The AI visibility check

I ran ten Nacsport-relevant queries across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. Here’s the citation map across the sports-analysis category.

The honest read. The genuinely good news is you’re already inside the AI Overview for the head term, which means the models associate Nacsport with the category. That’s a stronger starting position than most brands I audit. The bad news is you’re the text mention, not the cited link, and you’re absent on the competitor-displacement and sport-specific queries. The fix is two-track: (1) Convert the head-term text mention into a cited link by building the editorial and brand-mention footprint Catapult relies on, and (2) Own the field nobody else is contesting, multi-sport breadth, grassroots and academy value, and the sport-specific verticals (basketball, rugby, water polo) where there is no entrenched citation owner. The /vs Catapult and /vs Hudl pages are critical, high-intent, and currently untouched by you.

Reddit appears on 81.6% of B2B SaaS buying-query SERPs

Our Reddit Citation Study mapped where Reddit shows up in buyer journeys. AI Overview directly cites Reddit on 12.1% of buying queries, and the June 2025 Semrush study showed Reddit and forum threads account for roughly 40% of AI Overview citation share on evaluation queries. Sports-analysis buyers lean heavily on community and peer signal because the spend is significant and tied to a season budget, so coaches and analysts explicitly want recommendations from people at their level before they commit. For Nacsport specifically, the relevant communities cluster in: r/footballcoaching and r/bootroom (the football tactical and analysis centres, your single most important surfaces), r/Coaching (cross-sport coaching tool discussions), r/basketballcoach (basketball analysis and tooling), r/rugbyunion and r/rugby (rugby analysis discussions), r/Soccer and r/footballtactics (tactical analysis and tooling threads), r/SportsAnalytics (analyst-tier tool evaluation), plus sport-specific coaching forums and Discord servers that AI search increasingly reads. Recurring thread types worth showing up in: ‘best video analysis software for clubs’, ‘affordable alternative to Catapult / Hudl’, ‘how are you tagging matches’, ‘best tool for opponent analysis’, ‘multi-sport analysis software’. Catapult and Hudl have some presence but neither owns the grassroots, academy or multi-sport practitioner moat, and that’s the gap that maps directly onto Nacsport’s positioning. Substance-led commentary from your team plus a couple of real club case studies as social proof would resonate hard in these communities.

Why one surface is never enough

Four quadrants. Each one compounds and reinforces the other three. The opportunity for Nacsport is unusual: you’re already in the AI Overview, so the AEO and editorial quadrants will move faster than they would from a cold start.

SEO in isolation is passive. These four surfaces working together is the active growth lever the category gives you.

What it costs

Two engagement levels. Both run as 3-month rolling cycles invoiced monthly. No fixed lock-in beyond the first 90-day cycle, but in practice clients renew because the work compounds. Four years SaaS specialism, over 30 clients, more than 2,000 backlinks delivered. USD pricing.

Nacsport spans an entry tier from around €135 → professional → advanced up to €2,050, across subscription levels, plus a free trial. Pricing is in EUR for your tiers; our engagement is invoiced in USD. The mixed economics mean the citation work has to drive both volume conversion at the grassroots and academy end and higher-value professional and multi-sport deals at the top.

The $4K/mo Authority Roadmap tier earns its keep with even modest conversion uplift across the SERP plus a handful of professional or multi-sport club wins per quarter. At Nacsport’s advanced-tier and multi-seat values, a small number of upmarket deals covers the engagement comfortably, and the grassroots volume compounds underneath it.

The $7K Plus tier is the right fit because the sports-analysis citation surface has a genuine window before Catapult and Hudl extend their editorial dominance from the head term into the sport-specific tail. Plus doubles the editorial backlink cadence (14+ per month vs 8), doubles the Reddit and forum cadence (12-15 placements vs 6-8 across r/footballcoaching, r/bootroom, r/Coaching, r/basketballcoach, r/rugbyunion, r/Soccer, r/SportsAnalytics plus coaching forums), and adds targeted listicle outreach across SimpliFaster, Sports Data Campus, CoachNow and the Catapult and Hudl alternative surfaces. Plus compounds across football, basketball, rugby, grassroots and professional simultaneously.

One more data point on what this looks like when it works. We’re working with Constant right now, and at the start of month three they’re up 300% in leads through AI search. And the HR Partner pattern I led with in my email, $5K to $20K monthly organic value over 25 months while outranking both incumbents, is the closest match to your Catapult fight.
