Best AI SEO Agencies 2026: 10 Honest Picks by Buyer Type
By Matt Emgi ยท Updated July 2026
Half of B2B software buyers now start their research with an AI chatbot, up from 29% a year earlier, and 69% have changed a vendor decision because of what the AI told them (G2’s Answer Economy study, 2026). Meanwhile, when Google shows an AI summary, only 8% of users click a traditional result, roughly half the rate of searches without one (Pew Research Center, 68,879 real searches). If you are hiring an SEO agency in 2026 and AI search is not at the centre of the conversation, you are hiring for the wrong decade.
I run one of the agencies on this list, so let me be upfront about how this works. I have put EMGI where I honestly believe we belong, said who we are wrong for, and given every other agency here the same treatment: what they are genuinely good at, what they cost when the number is findable, and the caveat their own sales deck will not tell you. I have also cross-checked every name across the nine competing listicles on this exact search result plus independent industry roundups, and discounted any agency that only ever appears in rankings it wrote itself, because this market has a self-citation problem I will come back to.
One scoping note before we start. This is the broad list: agencies to run your whole search programme in the AI era, Google included. If what you want is a narrow specialist whose entire deliverable is AI citations, you need my companion list of the best generative engine optimisation agencies instead; the two lists overlap on only two names, deliberately.
Why most “AI SEO” agencies are the same agency with a new label
The uncomfortable truth about this category: most AI SEO offers are a 2019 SEO retainer with three new slides. It is the 2010 TV ad agency that has heard of YouTube, has a slide about YouTube, and still spends your budget on TV. The tell is in the deliverables. If the proposal says “AI-optimised content” but the measurement section still only reports rankings and traffic, nothing about the engagement has actually changed.
The reason this matters is mechanical, not philosophical. Our citation gap research across 150 SaaS companies found that category keyword authority predicts whether ChatGPT cites a brand at r = 0.76, while raw traffic barely registers at r = 0.23. Authority, not audience size, is what the machines trust, and 44% of Google’s top SaaS brands turned out to be invisible to ChatGPT entirely. An agency that only touches your website cannot close that gap, because the authority is built on everyone else’s websites: the listicles, the comparison pages, the communities and the coverage AI engines retrieve and train on.
So the evaluation question for every agency below is not “do they know about AI search”. Everyone says yes. It is “does their actual delivery model build presence beyond your own domain, and do they measure AI visibility as a first-class outcome”.
What makes a good AI SEO agency? The 6 criteria I used
1. AI visibility is measured, not mentioned. Ask to see a real client report. If AI citations, AI traffic or share of answer are not in it, the AI SEO is decorative. The upside of getting this right is large: Seer Interactive’s 5.47-million-query dataset found that being cited in an AI Overview delivers 120% more organic clicks per impression, while uncited brands on AIO queries lost 67% of their CTR over 2025.
2. Off-site is part of the model. Per the same 150-company study, the agencies that win AI visibility are the ones building authority on other people’s pages, not just polishing yours. Ask what share of the retainer leaves your own domain.
3. Technical retrieval competence. Can they explain how AI engines actually select sources, in plain English, and does anything in their method depend on it? The best technical shops study patents and rendering; the worst say “we add schema”.
4. Evidence with names attached. Anonymous “300% AI visibility increase” claims are marketing. Named clients with named numbers are evidence.
5. Honest pricing and terms. The market runs roughly $1,500 to $5,000 a month at entry level, $5,000 to $10,000 for mid-market, and $10,000 to $25,000+ for enterprise. Watch for long lock-ins at the top end.
6. They practise what they sell. An AI SEO agency that is itself invisible in AI answers is telling you something.
What I keep seeing when we capture real buying prompts
Beyond the published studies, we run prompt captures for prospects most weeks: real buying questions through the engines’ APIs, logging who gets named and which pages get cited. Two patterns repeat so reliably they should shape who you hire. First, most buying prompts never trigger a live search at all; in our two most recent captures, five of six prompts were answered straight from the model’s memory, and the brands recalled were the ones with years of consistent third-party coverage. Second, when the engines do search, the citations rarely go to vendors. They go to third-party listicles and comparison pages, including some obscure ones. In one capture, a prospect lost four of seven citations to a rival whose name was one letter-swap from theirs, purely because the rival had more retrievable coverage.
The hiring lesson: an agency that only works on your website is invisible to both mechanisms. Memory is built on other people’s pages over time, and retrieval is won on other people’s pages right now. Weight your shortlist accordingly.

A quick note on the EMGI entry before you read on
I founded EMGI, so discount my entry however you see fit. What I can offer instead of neutrality is falsifiability: everything we claim about how AI search behaves is published as open research with public datasets, and the same three studies underpin the criteria in this article. If our research is wrong, our entry is wrong too. No other agency on this list publishes its evidence at that level of detail, which is honestly the main reason we belong here.
The 10 agencies by buyer type
1. EMGI Group: best for B2B SaaS that wants AI visibility grounded in original research
We are a London-based agency working exclusively with B2B SaaS, combining editorial link building with LLM SEO: making your brand the one AI engines retrieve, cite and recommend when your buyer asks. The difference is the evidence layer. We run our own research programme (a query fan-out capture across four AI engines, the 150-company citation gap study, and a 1,486-query Reddit citation study) and client strategy is built directly on those findings rather than on industry folklore. Engagements start at $4,000 a month on rolling three-month cycles, you work with me directly, and monthly reporting re-runs your buying prompts so you can watch the answers change. Prospeo grew from 1,000 to 17,000 monthly organic sessions and crossed $1.5M ARR on this playbook.
Honest caveat: we are SaaS-only and founder-led. If you are an e-commerce brand, a local business, or you want a 40-person account team, several agencies below fit better.
2. iPullRank: best for enterprise technical AI SEO
Mike King’s shop is the technical benchmark for the whole category. They have productised AI search work under a genuine methodology (they call it relevance engineering: embeddings, passage retrieval, query expansion, the actual mechanics), and the client list (American Express, SAP, HSBC) matches the depth. If you are an enterprise with a complex site and a real budget, this is the strongest technical bet in the market.
Honest caveat: the floor is reportedly around $12,000 a month with projects north of $50,000. Mid-market buyers are not the audience.
3. Onely: best for fixing what blocks AI crawlers
If your problem is that AI engines literally cannot read your site (JavaScript rendering, headless CMS extraction, crawl and indexation at enterprise scale), Onely is one of the few teams that fixes it at the engineering level rather than writing a recommendations deck.
Honest caveat: Onely publishes an unusually large network of its own “best AI SEO agency” listicles with itself at the top. The underlying technical practice is independently corroborated, but verify claims directly rather than through their content.
4. Siege Media: best for content and digital PR that earns citations
Siege’s position is that AI engines cite genuinely good, data-rich content, so make that. Their original-research and data-journalism work for Zendesk and Zapier is the real thing, and their stated philosophy (“GEO amplifies SEO, it does not replace it”) is one of the more honest framings from a large agency.
Honest caveat: content-led, not technical-led, at around $11,000 a month reported. If your gap is retrieval mechanics or off-site authority specifically, this is half the puzzle.
5. Animalz: best for thought-leadership content
The most respected pure-content shop in B2B SaaS, and their bet on AI search is coherent: models favour genuine expertise, so publish real expert thinking rather than optimisation artefacts. Client list (Google, Intercom, Amplitude) speaks for itself.
Honest caveat: content is the whole offer. No links, no technical work, no off-site programme, so pair them with something else if your authority gap is off-domain.
6. Victorious: best for enterprise SEO with AEO governance
A five-time “SEO agency of the year” generalist that folds AI answer optimisation into a unified system rather than selling it separately, which suits enterprises that want one accountable framework across verticals.
Where this does not fit: generalist by design. If you want a team that lives and breathes your category or the AI layer specifically, the specialists above go deeper.
7. Graphite: best for programmatic content systems
Built the growth content engines behind MasterClass, Notion and BetterUp; now increasingly a platform business with an AEO tracker alongside services. If your model needs high-velocity topical coverage at scale, this is the engineering-minded pick.
The trade-off: the platform is becoming the product. Clarify what is managed service versus software subscription before you sign.
8. WebFX: best for platform-driven scale on a budget
The volume operator: 1,000+ staff, proprietary AI-visibility software (OmniSEO), and managed AI SEO from $3,000 to $6,000 a month, which is the most accessible credible entry point among the big shops.
The trade-off: it is a process machine. You get systems and dashboards, not a senior strategist thinking about your category every week.
9. NP Digital: best for full-service at brand-name scale
Neil Patel’s agency publishes more about AI search than almost anyone and has dedicated GEO leadership. For enterprises wanting one large vendor across SEO, paid and content with AI search included, it is a defensible consolidated bet.
Honest caveat: AI SEO here is one service line among many, and the practice reads content-marketing-forward rather than technically deep. Specialists will out-punch them on the AI layer specifically.
10. Flying Cat Marketing: best for international SaaS expansion
A Barcelona-based B2B SaaS boutique with a genuine niche: multi-market SEO for SaaS expanding internationally, now with their own LLM brand-presence tracking. If your growth problem is “we need to win in three languages”, few teams are built for exactly that.
Honest caveat: boutique capacity and less GEO-specific citation pedigree than the top names here; their case studies are strong but mostly unnamed.
A word on tools before you shortlist
A growing share of “AI SEO” budgets quietly goes to software that measures visibility rather than services that build it, and several agencies sell their own tracking software alongside services. We keep a full breakdown of the agency-versus-tool question in the GEO companion list above, and a separate review of the software category in our guide to AI visibility tools. The short version: know whether you are buying the score or the match.
Honourable mentions
Directive Consulting for enterprise B2B pipeline programmes with GEO folded into demand gen. Optimist for the most transparent pricing in the industry (free analysis, $7,500 one-time roadmap, $3,000 to $4,000 a month), a genuinely low-risk way to start. Exposure Ninja as a UK generalist with a productised GEO add-on. Spicy Margarita, Ross Hudgens’ deliberately tiny boutique, capped at ten clients, one to watch. Silverback Strategies for measurement-heavy mid-market programmes. And three names conspicuously missing here, Omniscient Digital, Skale and Go Fish Digital, are covered in depth in the GEO companion list, where their specialist work actually belongs.
Who should skip hiring an agency altogether?
Honesty section. Skip all of us if any of these apply:
- No product-market fit yet. AI visibility amplifies a story; it cannot invent one.
- Budget under roughly $2,000 a month. Buy a tracking tool (Otterly’s entry tier is $29 a month), fix your own listings, publish founder content, revisit in six months.
- You need pipeline this quarter. This compounds over quarters. Buy ads for urgency.
- Nobody internal can review content for accuracy. Every agency here will produce generic material without a subject-matter check, and generic material is precisely what AI engines skip.
How do you actually pick from this shortlist?
- Match your stage to the tier. Enterprise with complex tech: iPullRank, Onely. Funded SaaS: EMGI, Animalz, Siege Media. Budget-first: WebFX. Wanting a pure AI-citation specialist: the GEO companion list.
- Run the buying-prompt test. Before any sales call, ask three AI assistants the questions your buyers ask. Note who appears. Then ask each agency how, specifically, they would change those answers. Vague responses end the conversation.
- Demand the measurement plan in writing. Which prompts, which engines, how often, reported where. If AI visibility is not a named KPI with a baseline, it will not be managed.
- Check they rank for themselves. Ask ChatGPT “best AI SEO agency for [your profile]” and see who shows up. An agency selling AI visibility should have some.
Where is the AI SEO agency market going next?
Three predictions, held loosely. One: the “AI SEO agency” label dies within two years, the same way “mobile SEO agency” did, because AI search becomes the job rather than a speciality. The agencies that survive the label are the ones with a durable capability underneath it: authority building, technical depth, or genuinely good content. Two: measurement commoditises fast. Tracking tools already start at $29 a month; if an agency’s main differentiator is a dashboard, its margin is a countdown. Three: the winners consolidate around evidence. This market currently runs on confident claims, and buyers are getting burned into scepticism; the agencies publishing real research and named numbers will take share from the ones publishing rankings of themselves.
Frequently asked questions
What does an AI SEO agency actually do differently from a normal SEO agency?
The delivery adds three layers: retrievability work (making content AI engines can extract and cite), off-site entity building (presence on the third-party pages models learn from), and AI-visibility measurement (tracking citations and mentions across ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity and the rest). If a proposal contains none of those three, it is a normal SEO retainer with new branding.
How much do AI SEO agencies charge in 2026?
Entry-level runs $1,500 to $5,000 a month, mid-market typically $5,000 to $10,000, and enterprise $10,000 to $25,000 or more. GEO as an add-on to an existing SEO retainer typically adds $500 to $1,500 a month. Only a handful of agencies publish pricing; Optimist and Skale are the notable exceptions, and EMGI starts at $4,000.
Is AI SEO worth it if AI referrals are still a small share of my traffic?
Volume understates influence. G2’s 2026 research found 69% of B2B software buyers changed a vendor decision based on AI chatbot guidance, and a third bought from a vendor they had not previously considered. The AI answer shapes the shortlist even when the click never shows in analytics. Referral traffic from AI is also growing north of 200% year on year, so today’s small share is tomorrow’s channel.
Can I just do AI SEO in-house?
The on-site half, often yes: clear structure, honest expertise, current pricing pages, consistent listings. The harder half is off-site: earning the third-party coverage, comparisons and community presence that AI engines actually cite. That is outreach and authority work, which is precisely what agencies exist for.
How long does AI SEO take to show results?
Retrieval-layer changes (being cited when engines search live) can move in weeks once new third-party coverage exists. Model-memory changes (being recommended when engines answer from training data) compound over months. Any agency promising AI dominance in 30 days is selling you the wrong mechanism.
The shortlist is the easy part
Every agency here is credible for the right buyer. The differences that matter are stage fit, delivery model and whether AI visibility is measured or merely mentioned. If you are a B2B SaaS company and you want the version of this grounded in published research, with the founder doing the work, book a free AI visibility audit and I will show you exactly where you stand in the answers your buyers are already reading. And if GEO specialists are what you need, the companion list linked at the top of this article goes deeper on exactly that.
